I decided to revisit the lasagna ($10.75), which as remembered was the size of a brick and weighed at least a pound. I liked the zesty house Italian dressing. (I resisted eating two of them.) We ordered a large antipasto salad ($8.15) to share and it was an enormous bowl of crispy iceberg lettuce generously topped with black and green olives, sliced pepperoni, hard-boiled egg, shredded mozzarella and pepperoncini. (In Rena Rugani's region of Italy, they didn't use meatballs in wedding soup, Fragasse explained.)Īccompanying the soup was a basket of Cibo's fresh, chewy dinner rolls and butter. The wedding soup didn't have the meatballs and pasta I'm used to, but was pleasing with lots of endive and egg-cheese spezzato.

The fagioli was hearty with beans, peas, potatoes, carrots and cavatelli. We started off with cups of Cibo's homemade soup ($3.19 each, or included with entree). Background music would be a nice addition.

Inside, the place is fairly plain and humble, with tiers of tables, overhead lighting and a stage at front, currently decorated with a large illuminated snowman. Thursday, the parking lot was filled with cars. From downtown Canton, it's about a 13-mile drive.įrom the outside, illuminated at night, Cibo's looks kind of like a nightclub. Last Thursday, I headed to Waynesburg with a friend for another Cibo's visit. I hadn't been to Cibo's for at least a decade, but remembered its converted-theater interior and being served an enormous chunk of lasagna. The restaurant's name is pronounced CHEE-bo's. Incidentally, Cibo means food in Italian.
